the world.

2012 The Flying Scotsman

Having started 108th in the 4th Endurance Flying Scotsman rally, we encountered sun, wind, rain and even hail (in an open top car) throughout the journey from London to Edinburgh to win overall. This was despite some problems (for instance, no brakes at one point and fuelling issues), but navigator, Catriona Rings, kept her head in a very competitive rally. On the last day, a farmer droving his cows in the opposite direction to us in the road caused two of our competitors to lose the plot completely and therefore eliminate themselves, and then the reigning opposition fell over in the final test to ensure we got the win. As ever, the Alfa looked looked a million dollars even in the dreadful weather conditions – it might be the best looking car in the world. But then maybe my Lola is. Or maybe the Silver Cloud. Or…even the GTO?
