BMW 700
The BMW 700 was bought especially for Liège-Brescia-Liège 2008, which was a micro-car rally. It was bought on eBay, shipped in from Turin in Italy, with excellent bodywork but a great deal of work needed on the brakes and the suspension.
I was on holiday in New Zealand when the organiser of the Liège-Brescia-Liège emailed me with a few options for classic cars I could use in the rally. I fell in love with the 700 straight away and clicked the ‘Buyit now’ button without hesitation. Before that moment I’d neither seen or heard of the 700. The car hadn’t been driven in years, it must have been kept well because the bodywork was in fantastic condition but I had to rebuild the drive shafts, brakes and suspension. The 700 is a great little car which did a superb job by winning its first rally against works competition from Fiat and BMW.
